What BSC courses should I take?
The course structure is flexible. The most common approach is to enroll into the Foundational Track, followed by the Advanced Course Track. These Tracks are made for individuals who will participate in the building of Balanced Scorecards and Strategy Maps and want to use the proven Kaplan/Norton step-by-step approach.
Alternatively, choose one course at a time based on you or your team's specific needs. While the Balanced Scorecard methodology contains several key steps that should be followed to be implemented correctly, specific topics are self-contained within each course and can be taken on an individual basis.

How detailed are the courses?
Each course covers deep dives into specific Balanced Scorecard elements and strategy processes. The courses will equip you to participate in and/or facilitate the Balanced Scorecard and Strategy Map creation and implementation.
There are 18 courses available in total each ranging from 40 minutes to 70 minutes to complete, based on course activities and your learning pace.

Who will benefit from taking these courses?
Anyone who is looking to expand their strategy knowledge and help an organization create and report on strategy will benefit from these courses. The courses are designed to help those with little to no Balanced Scorecard experience as well as those who have implemented scorecards before, but need a refresher.
Typically consultants and Balanced Scorecard project team members will complete the Foundational and Advanced Course Tracks while Chief Strategy Officers and other Leadership Team members who need to understand the methodology will complete the Executive Course Track.

How long does each course take to complete?
The Balanced Scorecard Foundation courses (BSC 101 - BSC 111) take 45-60 minutes to complete, based on each individual student’s learning pace. The Balanced Scorecard Advanced courses (BSC 201 - BSC 207) take 75-90 minutes to complete.
Are there quizzes in each of the courses?
There are quizzes at the end of each course. In order to earn your certification, you will need to achieve a score of 80% or better on each of the courses in the applicable track. Course material can be reviewed at any time and you are able to retake quizzes to improve your score.
Can I get expert advice if I have questions?
Absolutely, ESM has expert staff who have been implementing Balanced Scorecards and Strategy Maps in organizations for over 20 years and are happy to answer your questions. We've learned many tips and tricks to successful Balanced Scorecard creation and implementation and are happy to share our guidance as you progress through the courses.

How do I get certified?
In order to earn the Balanced Scorecard Practitioner Certification, you will need to successfully complete Courses BSC 101 – BSC 111 with a score of 80% or higher on each of those courses.
In order to earn the Advanced Balanced Scorecard Practitioner Certification, you will need to complete ALL of the Courses in the Balanced Scorecard Foundations Track (BSC 101 – BSC 111) plus the additional Advanced Balanced Scorecard Courses (BSC 201-207).
